I'm unmerging the two bugs. #489328: Current movement seems to be not to remove users when the package gets purged to avoid reusing the UID that still may own some files (#621833) and just lock the user (currently only wagely defined). #608035: Leaving stuff in /var/lib/$package on purge is still a bad idea.
