Package: src Version: 3.2.20-1 Severity: normal Hello,
I observe what seems like a system lockup when copying large amount of data. The amount of data transferred does not seem to matter but the time it takes to transfer does. I was restoring a disk image to a disk in external enclosure (sdg). This involves reading some random files (the restore scipt uses cat, ewh), ungzipping the concatenation, and feeding that to a program that frobs the data and restores them to appropriate blocks on the partition. About firtst minute went fine, then the system was totally frozen for about 4 minutes, and then about two minutes it was _very_ unresponsive but updated the on-screen picture a few times and allowed remote login. Last 3 minutes of copy went fine again. Similar results with dd if=some-dvd-image.iso of=/some/flash/drive but only with some (slow?) flash drives. vbox is installed (and the modules loaded) but no virtual machine is running. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 3.2.0-2-amd64 (Debian 3.2.18-1) (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-1) ) #1 SMP Mon May 21 17:45:41 UTC 2012 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-2-amd64 root=UUID=3b8f6a64-5899-462a-aec0-6ddefd878ecf ro fbcon=rotate:3 quiet ** Tainted: O (4096) * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: [1811633.355259] scsi 8:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA ST380817AS 3.42 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 [1811633.355499] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdg] 156301488 512-byte logical blocks: (80.0 GB/74.5 GiB) [1811633.355631] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdg] Write Protect is off [1811633.355635] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdg] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [1811633.355723] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdg] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [1811633.373021] sdg: unknown partition table [1811633.373290] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdg] Attached SCSI disk [1811785.734535] sdg: sdg1 [1811785.809677] sdg: sdg1 [1811785.853088] sdg: sdg1 [1812002.468067] INFO: task kworker/1:4:10835 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
