Hi! Same problem here with an old AIC7895 scsi card. Mdadm fails with "No devices listed in conf file where found" and drops to busybox sh.
# mdadm --assemble --scan --run --auto=yes or simple # mdadm --assemble --scan runs without any problem and start the /dev/mdx devices. Is turns out that the aci7xxx scsi bus scan is not finished at the time of the mdadm run and so it fails. As workaround rootdelay=10 works fine.
