I would like to provide something to help you build a clean solution
but I believe that the current patch isn't that thing.

That said it's not clear to me what the proper solution would be. It
probably involves abstracting the work of dpkg-buildpackage in a dedicated
perl module and making it possible to use alternate implementation at the
same time.

That alternate implementation could reuse the default implementation and
call it in a loop. But maybe others have better ideas.
