Hi, Over the weekend I put a GeForce GE 430 ZONE card into my workstation and made it the default graphics device. The Quadro 570 device is still in there but it would take a bit of effort to use it as the graphics device. I am finding that there are no unexpected X.org terminations. So the problem that this bug report is about is definitely focused on the Quadro 570 card. Of course it could be that the card has developed a fault and that it is actually a hardware problem and not a software problem. What is needed is for another Quadro 570 (or equivalent) user to observe and report in on the problem.
I have though had two incidents of GNOME Shell "freezing" with the GE 430 card as the graphics device using the 302 driver from Experimental. I am sure this must be a different problem so will if I can get some data create a new bug report. With this one though X remains fine as does the machine itself, it is just GNOME Shell that has ceased responding. I hate these intermittent problems that cannot be reproduced at will ! I guess the upshot is that without special effort I won't be providing new data to help with the original bug report. -- Russel. ============================================================================= Dr Russel Winder t: +44 20 7585 2200 voip: sip:russel.win...@ekiga.net 41 Buckmaster Road m: +44 7770 465 077 xmpp: rus...@winder.org.uk London SW11 1EN, UK w: www.russel.org.uk skype: russel_winder
