But to me, much more important issue is the timing issue we have in initramfs. Namely, there are a few known valid setups which does not work with mdadm currently. #675452 and #664581 are two examples of this, arrays will not start if any of the component devices are on USB storage which is slow to initialize, and so on. There are a few possible solutions there, but it is all quite fragile and touching very important area...
