I use an ugly environment, I fear, wich could be part of the problem, even if the other programs I use do not have any. I used to use a Gnome2 environment. Some months ago, following Debian testing, I installed Gnome3. After some cursing I managed to get back to something usable, as similar as possible to Gnome2.
