I'm the maintainer of ddrescue and gddrescue. * ddrescue provides the dd_rescue binary * gddrescue provides the ddrescue binary This confuses users. I asked for comments >1 year ago on debian-devel because I planned the removal of ddrescue: https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/02/msg00594.html and no real objections have been raised since then. I want to force usage of gddrescue. Its upstream is friendly and has good reaction times via mail so if any issues show up in gddrescue when providing a replacement for ddrescue I'd expect to get them sorted out for Debian/wheezy. Therefore I'm requesting the removal of ddrescue thanks && regards, -mika-
