Yep.  It uses select, we know.  And what?

Why?  Please, explain.

An another workaround: reduce number of open fd's.  Somtimes, it's
just a crazy setup of an average "Hosting Control Panel", which uses
"own access.log per every VirtualHost" paradigm.

Or use php-memcached extension (different api).
