Stopping and starting Apache did definitely help.
But as far as we remember the suggested "restart" did not
(immediately) help in our mod_perl based setup.
So maybe recommending to explicitly stop and start Apache would be
better. Because if "service apache2 stop" exits you can be sure that
all Apache children really exited.
