I think it would make sense to apply this to experimental now and to unstable at the start of the Debian 8 cycle. The patch also adds an unrelated lintian override for some reason (in debian/binutils-multiarch-dev.overrides and debian/rules), but that part's easy enough to think about independently and back out if unwanted.
