Please accept my apologies for the large fles. I was concerned about
this myself but as you asked for them I thought I should send them.  I
will compress any such in the future.


I have already tried using a plain .xinitrc with only "exec i3" and I
have also tried the default i3 configuration file. In any case, as I
said previously, this does not seem to be a specifically i3 problem
since it also happens with other wms if I kill the process from within
X.

Incidentally, I made a fresh installation of Debian on a space
partition. That was fine, as expected; I upgraded to Testing and again
no problem. But when I upgraded to Sid the crash came back, again with
all the wms I tried if I killed the X process.
