That does look unnecessary, indeed. In wheezy, texpower depends (among others) on texlive-fonts-recommended texlive-latex-recommended In sid it is texlive-fonts-extra texlive-latex-extra For texlive-latex-* it is right to go from recommended to extra since the actual texpower code now resides in tl-latex-extra. However, I think tl-fonts-recommend is still sufficient for texpower. @David: Simple workaround should be to mark texlive-latex-extra as "not automatic" and remove texpower.
