I'm not able to reproduce this with 1.0.4 and latest 1.0.5. Therefor
I'll be closing this bug if nobody reports any further problems
regarding this issue.

How can you claim that you cannot reproduce the problem with 1.0.4 or
1.0.5. Have you tried #undef PATH_MAX and built, or built under
GNU/Hurd where PATH_MAX is not defined?
