Hello Peter, This very strange bug where a security update introduced a big regression where linux clients can no longer delete files was finally not really investigated by us...mostly because it was really puzzling.
Since you had this problem, there have been other updates to Debian squeeze packages of samba? Did by any chance one of these solve (mysteriously) that problem? Or did the problem go away by itself? Or did you stop updating that server? Or did something else happen? --
