Not quite. GTK programs use some GTK-specific input method by default.
For QT programs the default is indeed xim. I think there is a need for
"force xim" regardless of the defaults of a toolkit.

I'm using Debian 6.0 so I don't know how the latest GTK/QT programs
behave.
