Agney Lopes Roth Ferraz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > On nm status page we can find: > Application Manager will put their approval to the DAM. > I think that AM is a person (and only one person), this makes the word > "their" wrong. It should be his.
The gender of the AM is not determined, so "his" is incorrect, but I think we're sure in this example that there's only one, so the plural/indefinite "their" is totally incorrect and makes the phrase unclear. It should be reworded, possibly as "Application Manager will send approval to the DAM," unless or until AM genders are noted. However, this bug was introduced by people who want political correctness before good, clear English. When I pointed out these problems beforehand and suggested rephrasing and equality of examples before, half-read wikipedia articles and anecdotes from the advocates were cited in opposition. I don't think I can reason with that level of bigotry. I expect your bug will be closed unfixed soon. Sorry. -- MJ Ray (slef), K.
