Package: libtiff4 Version: 3.9.6-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation? Updating libtiff4 from 3.9.6-2 to 3.9.6-5 made my HP 1006p USB printer installed with hp-setup on CUPS stop working. The error log stated: (/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups) crashed on signal 11 * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Re-installing the printer didn't have any effect whatsoever. Neither did restarting it or cups whatsoever. Machine was rebooted too to no avail. I tried downgrading to 3.9.6-2 and the issue went away immediately (no restart of anything needed after dpkg -i). I tried installing 3.9.6-4 and 3.9.6-3 and the issue is also present in both versions, but not on 3.9.6-2 Let me know what I can do to assist you with troubleshooting this issue. All package versions are the ones as they are right now in testing: hplip 3.12.2-1 cups 1.5.2-5 cups-filters 1.0.2-1 libcupsfilters1 1.0.2-1 As the package is in the oldlibs section I thought of installing libtiff5 but the dependency chain is broken as packages depend on libtiff4 directly with no alternative for libtiff5 so I assume there was some kind of incompatible change inbetween. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libtiff4 depends on: ii libc6 2.13-30 ii libjpeg8 8d-1 ii multiarch-support 2.13-30 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.6.dfsg-2 libtiff4 recommends no packages. libtiff4 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
