cinelerra is forked. To repeat what Riccardo has written: "This is a branched version of Cinelerra sometimes called Cinelerra-CVS . Please visit cvs.cinelerra.org for more information regarding this duality." But your reaction proves that the name "cinelerra-cvs" is misleading.
