Creating generic self-signed certificate: /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem
(replace with hand-crafted or authorized one if needed).
chgrp: invalid group name `dovecot'
chgrp: invalid group name `dovecot'

Running the command exactly as written in the postinst:
# /usr/sbin/adduser --system --group --home /usr/lib/dovecot --gecos "Dovecot 
mail server" --ingroup mail --disabled-password --quiet dovecot
adduser: The --group, --ingroup, and --gid options are mutually exclusive.

Workaround was to remove "--ingroup mail" from the command line
