Yes. I am running 'clipman' from xfce. So that may well have been the cause of the issue. However the problem is now fixed, or at least gone away. Using gnumeric 1.10.17 from wheezy (and clipman 1.2.2 from wheezy) cut and paste works as expected again. so a) thank you for explaining where the problem arose and b) it's now fixed, for reasons that are mysterious to me. I guess something in one of the two apps, or X clipboard handling changed.
