We're 9 months later and we're still at 5.21 in Debian unstable.
And there's no activity on the git repo used to maintain your
package:

It's still the right thing to do. Adding a watch file allows the project
as a whole to monitor packages who are not updated and then investigate
the reasons why... sometimes we'll find MIA maintainers. Sometimes it
can attract new contributors, etc.

in this source package (see #663217).
