Package: nautilus Version: 2.8.2-2 Severity: normal I am having a very similar problem with using nautilus to edit launchers.
Having chosen Start Here/Applications and then created some sub-directories, if I open one of the subdirectories, right click, pick "Create Launcher" fill in the fields in the dialog box that pops up and click "OK" the new launcher does not appear in nautilus's view of that directory and doesn't appear on the panel menu either. I think occasionaly this has been resolved by logging out and then back in again. Choosing View/Reload from the menu does not cause nautilus to find the newly created .desktop file. Digging around I found that nautilus is creating a .desktop file in .gnome2/vfolders/applications but that there is also an applications.vfolder-info file which doesn't seem to get updated. If I manually edit the file and add a line <Include>full-pathname</Include> where full-pathname is the pathname for the .desktop file, then log out/login in the launcher then appears both in the panel menu and in nautilus's view of the application directory. In case it makes any difference I have upgraded gnome-panel and libstartup-notification0 from 'unstable' with an otherwise 'testing' system as bug 291185/292588 was driving me mad.
