So, where does the gb_GB setting come from? Can you post the contents of /etc/environment after the reboot. If there's no gb_GB in there, could you grep /etc for that string? Could you also check the logs in /var/log on the installed system for gb_GB and paste relevant parts. We still need to figure out where it comes from of course.
