Unfortunately that behaviour broke a bunch of other things, which
is why it had to be backed out in the end. As a result, I believe
on hardware that previously used this, you now need to supply
acpi=off as a boot parameter. Coupd you please try booting
kernel-image-2.4.27-2-686_2.4.27-8 with that option and see if it
helps?
