I don't think this is a FTBFS issue but it makes the build process puzzling.
While doing the preparation oif the l10n NMU I talked about a few days ago,
I went on that issue:

Removing the culprit symlink allows the build process to go on but this
should probably be done in the clean target....
I can fix this in the upcoming NMU...but only if you agree on the proposed
solution, of course...
