Can you replicate the problem?  And would you be willing to send me
the output of "e2image -r | bzip2", preferably from before the
resize2fs, if you have backups?  This will not send me the contents of
any data blocks, but I will see the directory names.  

I see it is a cryptographically encrypted filesystem, so I will
understand if you decline to do this, but it would make it much easier
for me to debug the problem.
