For historical reasons, it would be very useful for the LinuxCNC
community to be able to build recent live ISOs using Debian/Buster
machines. It would be great if it was possible to build Debian/Bookworm
images on oldstable. The two fixes required, as far as I can tell, is a
symlink in /usr/share/live/build/data/debian-cd/ from bookworm to
squeeze, and editing /usr/lib/live/build/installer_debian-installer to
drop lilo from DI_REQ_PACKAGES.
Would it be possible to get a fix for this into oldstable? I guess LTS
is the most likely path for such fix.

Debian 10 "Buster" is archived and therefore can't receive fixes
directly. There is ELTS available, but this request might not meet
their criteria. Also, it has been more than 3 years since this request
was made, so maybe it's not no longer needed? I'm closing this bug
because I don't think there is anything that can be done from Debian
directly for this.
