I've given more thought to this, and I think we should get d-i-n-i through NEW rather sooner than later (all binary package names get changed). Also, this change is jessie-specific (as d-i-n-i downloads the netboot images from testing), so I've gone ahead and implemented a workaround in d-i-n-i directly.
