I'd speculate because udhcpc from busybox is very small, and isc-dhcp-client-udeb was about 2 MiB. It targets (currently only builds on) Linux; there is a bug open somewhere about porting it to kfreebsd; it's infeasible before the jessie freeze, and IMHO I think I prefer to keep the ISC version (mostly from a security POV). > 2. Are those reasons still valid? Having the same across all arches sounds nice, but I don't think I have time to get into this right now; there are more urgent kfreebsd issues I must focus my attention on, sorry. I still think my patch is the best resolution for this bug, but Philipp mentioned rdnssd, which is currently being killed by netcfg as well. Someone may want to look into that.
