Does the original problem still apply? Petr has done a major overhaul of our threading implementation this summer. AIUI, this was a suggestion in order to make Perl more portable in general, but it's possible that we're no longer affected. According to #677045 (cloned from #628493), the Perl testsuite has been re-enabled since Jun 2012.
