I'm still concerned that it temporarily broke GRUB when you tried to install it, but since you were using a very old version of it (0.97-47lenny2) and that is not in the Debian archive any more (replaced by grub-legacy in Squeeze, or grub2), I don't /think/ we need to take any action.
