I propose that /sbin/route is replaced with FreeBSD route.  Then we
could keep the wrapper elsewhere in case it's useful (e.g. to shell
users).

Yes please,
/sbin/route should be FreeBSD route,
/sbin/ifconfig should be FreeBSD ifconfig.

The same hold for mount, idea is that
the basic OS manipulating programs should be OS specific.
