How did you build cyrus-sasl? This looks like an error in that build...
Something like this should be what you did...:
dpkg-source -x cyrus-sasl_${version}.dsc;
cd cyrus-sasl-${upstreamversion};
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us -b
lamont
