OT: About approval non-linux ports

Hi there, I will give a talk about Debian non-linux ports and I'm looking to get more information about that subject. Sorry about the OT but I dont know where is the right place to post these questions, if I'm wrong please, forgive-me.

How Debian staff approve or not a non-linux port? Is there exist any kind of rules to be followed for non-linux port projects?
Any more information about this will be very good. ;)
