Comments/Problems:
Install hangs when tasksel is specified in the netboot configuration
file. The base installation always completes without any problems. But
in the following step, tasksel downloads its required packages no
problem but then it hangs indefinitely or until the user accesses TTY2
and terminates the process "/usr/bin/perl -w /usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure

This was not the case on at the beginning of May 2007 (eg. 01/05/07).
At this time, the installation worked with the configuration displayed
below without any issues.
If we do not use tasksel, then DI installs the entire gnome desktop and
lots of non-server type packages which it is then necessary to remove
and clean up. This is not a viable option for our production servers.
Please note that we have replicate this issue on our own mirror and on
the public mirror ftp.uk.debian.org and using both the official Etch
netboot image (from
http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/etch/main/installer-i386/current/i
mages/netboot/netboot.tar.gz) and the daily netboot image (from
http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/daily/netboot/netboot.tar.gz)
.
