Hello again; Atleast 2 other points to consider about this bug;
1. Firstly, I looked at a Debian install using the D600 model found at tuxmobil.org http://tinyurl.com/ysmk94 , and it appears the D600 also contains an optional "MediaBay", with which one can add/attach another HDD, CDR, DVD Drive (dell offered an optional 40GB drive). Here http://www.bay-wolf.com/hdmedbay-d.htm and here http://tinyurl.com/2zeve5 are the best two example's I can find. 2. Possible "Write-Protect" setting for boot sector in the BIOS interfering? ..also known sometimes as "Anti-Virus" BIOS protection, to help thwart a very old hack that overwrote the MBR with nefarious code. A common setting found on all PC BIOSes since ~1997 or so, AFAIR, if not even earlier. p.s. My apologies to anyone whom I may have offended in any way at all, it was *not* meant to be as harsh a comment as I can now see it being taken by that way by some. It was meant more as "someone is doing 'something' incorrectly...somehow". p.s.s Would someone like to try a more recent Etch Installer? Etch RC2 is released as of March 19, 2007 Kindly see; http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/News/2007/20070319 with regards; enouf ____________________________________________________________________________________ Get your own web address.
