Well it did :-) I got myself the netinstall CD image and installed debian etch without any real problems; no proxy, no change to the router, the same pcmcia-NIC, even the same IP-address provided by DHCP. I had to remove (comment out) the CD-ROM entries from the sources.list by hand. I know, this is beta software but for the final release it would be nice if the installer asked, whether to leave them in the sources.list or not.
