In the meantime, I've made a netboot image available at <http://people.debian.org/~vorlon/alpha-lowmem.img>. Pablo, this should do the trick for you if you have the option of netbooting; otherwise, the fix should trickle into the CD images soon after Frans ok's an upload of lowmem.
