Hi Clint, Since this bug was filed there have been fixes in both grub/lilo and in the kernel that should fix this.
* There were a couple grub bugs, I don't have the references offhand. IIRC there was one with the device.map not getting written with the proper /dev/{ida,cciss}/ path and another about some weird s:!:/: thing. Maybe more, anyway all should be working now. * Based on the fact that a 2.6.8 with the raid driver built-in fixed it, I think you were seeing #380272 which was fixed in linux-2.6/2.6.17-8. This fix is also now in the lastest d-i builds so installs work fine. I filed an installation report for a similar machine at #404999. * I'm not sure if the 2.4 thing is fixed. IIRC you can work around it with noapic/nolapic/noacpi/nosmp or something like that. But who cares about 2.4 these days... Anyway those that do should install with 2.6 and try a newer 2.4 kernel in the archive. -- Matt Taggart [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
