Comments/Problems:
Installation went fine. I initially tried using the
daily build businesscard installer but the CD would
not boot.

The system is set up to dual boot windows and Debian.
I used the NT bootloader because it is needed to
preserve the function of the Thinkvantage button.
Before the install I resized the windows partition
using gpart from the sysresccd.

I started the installer in expert mode. All the
hardware checks went fine. We use DHCP and the
installer set that up correctly. I made a 100 MB /boot
partition and installed Grub on it. The rest of the
free space I used for / and swap.

I installed the 2.6.18-3 kernel. In the install
additional software section I selected Base and
Laptop, but not Desktop

Before finishing the installation I used
dd if=/dev/sda3 of=grub.mbr bs=512 count=1
to make a file grub.mbr from the /boot partition
I copyed this file to the windows partition and
pointed the NT bootloader at it to load Grub. Then
Grub loads Debian.
After these changes I rebooted the system and it came
up fine.
For some reason xfonts-base had not been installed
(maybe because I did not check Desktop?) so X did not
work. I installed the
