I am using the Etch RC1 net install image CD to boot Dell Inspiron E1505. It currently has Windows XP and I wold like to dual boot it between Linux and Windows. The hard disk capacity is 100 GB and has 80 GB free space.
During the partitioning step, the installer offers to use lvm on the entire hard disk . Will that erase the data on Windows XP partition or will it preserve the data on Windows XP and proceed with the LVM? Is it not possible to just use LVM on the 80 GB free space instead of installing it on the entire hard drive? If it is possible, why is the installer not giving that option and restricting the use of LVM on the entire hard drive? thanks raju -- Kamaraju S Kusumanchi http://www.people.cornell.edu/pages/kk288/ http://malayamaarutham.blogspot.com/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Online Criminal Justice Programs Criminal Justice careers are booming.
