Hi Frans, I had the same problem when I installed Etch on amd64 pre RC1. I included that error in my installation report. I got around it by booting the install again and running rescue mode and installing grub from the menu. That worked fine. I think, but am not sure, the problem wasn't that the grub package wasn't installed but rather that it didn't end up in the MBR. I could be wrong since the AMD installs packages in the blink of an eye (instead of the rotation of the earth as on my 486). It was a daily build sometime after beta3 before RC1. netinst.iso on a USB stick hd-media. I did not have the installer get updates from the network but just to use packages on the iso. Hardware is an AMD Athlon 3800+ on an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe with one 1 GB strip of Kingston 800 DDR2, dual 80 GB Seagate SATA drives in an LVM on raid1 (md0 for /boot, md1 as PV for vg0, LVs for everything else). After install, added lines to the menu.list file so that menu items are added to allow booting from both sda and sdb and grub installed on both MBRs. It works great (since the MB has a boot menu, I can choose which MBR to boot). Doug. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
