There should be 2.6.18 based installer in the daily build RSN, there is nothing stopping the 2.6.18 upload, i actually built 2.6.18 based powerpc installers already, but as i netboot, they are not useful yet. If you are interested in detailed instructions, and nobody else jumps in, i will provide them at a later time. Look at the d-i web page and the instructions on how to build the installer. There are two places which need to be adapted. linux-kernel-d-i-... or whatever the .udeb package is called, and installer/build/config/<arch>/<subarch>.cfg. /me is in a hurry, sorry for not giving more details right now.
