BTW, from my understanding, Gnome, or at least GDM, was seeking for some sepcific "Debian" theme to solve the issue of the default GDM theme on Debian desktop systems. See the gdm bug log (I haven't look there for a while) and possibly discuss with Ryan Murray, its maintainer, as well as the Debian Gnome team.
