I've been running various GNU/Linux distributions like Redhat, SuSe, Mandrake/Mandriva and Debian and I like Debian best. That is the reason for having Debian on all boxes. >Where you were ranting^Wlooking for ping and other debug tools not >available, we forgot to speak about the tools that are available. >What says `ifconfig`, `lsmod` `lspci | grep Ethernet` inside d-i? Started the d-i in rescue mode and configured the network manually and all works properly! Very strange. However, when things did not work I checked both ifconfig and lsmod and all was OK then too! BTW: lspci is not available in d-i, at least I could not find it. >Cheers >Geert Stappers >[1] I could say 'sorry', I could say 'you are allowed to keep all the >pieces', but I have no time for a flame war. >Nor I have time to explain the design of (parts of) d-i. Seem that this question has been raised before. What is the primary use of the rescue mode in your opinion?
