Package: installation-reports
Version:
Problem with the installation using the Etch beta 2 net-install CD. We
select two group of packages: Desktop enviroment and Standard system
(default); after rebooting the system, a problem occurs when the
graphical enviroment tries to start. GDM can't find the X-Server.
It seems that some packages are missing. We solve this problem
installing them, but some other packages of the standard installation
seems to have the same "problem" (they are not installed).
We think that the problem is with the default list of packages
We are installing Debian GNU/Linux Etch beta 2, kernel 2.6.15-1-486
and libc6 2.3.6-3

Yes, I can reproduce the problem. I don't feel we need to take action
right now though: X is in the middle of a major transition, so things are
likely to change over the next weeks until all initial bugs are sorted
out.
I'll mention the issue on our "daily issues" page [1] though. I'm closing
your report as it does not add much value in tracking the issue.
Thank you for submitting your report.
Cheers,
