Try 'aptitude update; aptitude (dist-?)upgrade'. A new libnewt has been available since: 0.52.2-2 (latest build at Mar 19 13:25: maybe-successful) [1] This "breakage" is the result of an update of newt with ABI change that has led to a rebuild (bin-NMU) of cdebconf. The reason that your build-depends are satisfied is that d-i depends on libnewt-pic for library reduction, which is unversioned. However, all this is no longer really relevant as, as of today, Colin has kindly offered to do the daily builds for PowerPC. I have switched over all the links a few hours ago, so you are free to disable the builds and clean you home directory on gluck. The only thing not covered yet is the daily builds of the graphical installer, but there is no real rush for that. I have saved the last good build. Thank you for all the work you've done for d-i over the past years. Cheers, Frans [1] http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?&pkg=newt&arch=powerpc
