But there are some things, I hardly missed: 1. On a installed system it is not possible, to create or repair the=20 bootloader. Mounting, and repartitioning went fine, but when I tried to install the n= ew=20 bootloader (either grub or lilo), it wanted to install basic libs, packag= es=20 etc. ansd warned me, that it might crash. I said, o.k., do it still, and = he=20 began to overwrite the libs etc. and then hook up, because of a crash and= =20 dependencies. I tried hard, but there was no way, to reinstall the bootloader with the=20 installation CDs. To reinstall teh bootloader, I used teh CDs from Jan 2003 (woody), where = there=20 is the opportunity, to choose an per example "rescbf24"-kernel to boot th= e=20 system. =20 Now my question: Will there be a rescue-system at the coming installation-CDs in the futur= e ? I painfully miss it, because I often had to use old ones for easy rescuei= ng a=20 died system. =20 Best regards and thank you very much for your work in the past and=20 the future !! Hans-J. There is work being done on a rescue option already. In the mean time, see question 28 in our FAQ [1] on how you can use the installer CD as a rescue system. Closing the bug report as this seems to satisfy the points raised in it. (If you disagree, the report can be reopened.) [1] http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?DebianInstallerFAQ Cheers, FJP
