There is some package somewhere that fs (i think) pointed out to me for having mdadm do bios-bios stuff, maybe we could add this to make d-i play nice with bios raid and windows partitions in this setup. bios raid is especially important if you want to boot from the disk :). i think it was a redhat package or patch or something. > - tried SATA1 with single Installation, both extf3 or > xfs > - all installation interrupted with Segmentation > fault This seriously smells like bad hardware, do you have heatsink problem, bad memory or problematic SATA cables ? > - debian-amd64/pure-amd64 interrupted with > SATA1-drive in each time (segmentation fault) > - sarge-installation interrupted with > SATA1-drive in each time > - all install setting tried, acpi=force, > acpi=off, lacpi=aoff (misc bios > settings), nothing help > > Solution: > - sarge netinst-rc2 was okay with > single drive SATA1 > - debian-amd64/pure-amd64 was okay > with IDE-install to /dev/hda1 > WD800JB-00ETA0 > - support of nv-ata must be > buggy with MSI Neo2 Platinum I got the asus a8v deluxe, with via dual channel and promise raid onboard. I got no major problem during the install (of ubuntu-amd64 though), except the bios-raid thingy, but as i had only one disk anyway ...
